West Marin has always been a haven for writers and artists. And who can blame them? With the extraordinary environment as their inspiration and a community oozing spirituality and creativity, artists of all types flock to Stinson Beach to create and share their work. There are a number of places to view and purchase incredible local art just in Stinson Beach alone. Venture a few miles north to Bolinas, Pt. Reyes Station and Inverness and you could spend an entire vacation experiencing the local talent.
The Claudia Chapline Gallery and the Stinson Beach Gallery, located in adjacent spaces in the same building, both feature a wide range of artists with shows that change frequently. Claudia Chapline Gallery has been in Stinson Beach for over 20 years and Ms. Chapline is an extraordinary resource for local art. The sculpture garden outside her gallery is a lovely place to stroll and take in some magnificent work.
Don't miss local artist Michael Knowlton's work on display the Parkside Cafe. His large wave paintings and seaside scenes are the perfect back drop to a great meal, (and a possible souvenir you can treasure for a lifetime!).
Coastal Artisans in Bolinas and Gallery Route One in Pt. Reyes Station are out of town favorites and both are worth the drive.
